Woodford County Historical Society
"Preserving the past
for future generations"
Membership in the Woodford County Historical Society provides funding to help keep the genealogy library and museum in operation. The library and museum are dedicated to preserving Woodford County's rich history for future generations.
Part of the mission of the Woodford County Historical Society is to educate the public about Woodford County's rich history. The Society meets on the fourth Thursday of each month, and each meeting features a guest speaker or other program on a topic concerning Woodford County history. Other educational opportunities include tours of our museum and speaking engagements presented by the curator to local civic organizations and elementary schools.
Members of the Woodford County Historical Society receive a quarterly newsletter, "Woodford Heritage News," which is complimentary. The newsletter provides members up-to-date information of events hosted by the Historical Society. It also contains interesting articles on Woodford County history, genealogy, personalities, historic preservation, cemeteries, and other topics of interest to Society members. The Newsletter may be either hard copy delivered via USPS or electronic. Please state your preference when becoming a Historical Society Supporter.
Members receive their first 50 photocopies free and a 50 percent discount on other photocopies made at the Woodford County Historical Society (does not include copies from microfilm). Members also receive a discount on research performed by the WCHS staff. Those at the Supporter level will additionally receive two hours of research free.
Members receive advance information on Society events, meetings, programs, and other Society activities.
Members have voting privileges at Society business meetings. The membership elects the Board of Directors, approves bylaws changes, and decides other important Society issues.
Membership in the Woodford County Historical Society provides unique opportunities to join with other members in projects which promote the awareness of and support for the Woodford County Historical Society and Woodford County history and genealogy.
